AUTOMOBILE INFORMATION

Auto Tags:
Tags are available at the Liberty County Annex Building on Main Street in Hinesville (912) 876-3389, and should be obtained immediately after moving to Liberty County. Bring your proof of ownership and insurance. Ad valorem taxes are due when the tag is purchased and are based on the current millage rate and location of the vehicle at the first of the year.

Driver’s License:
Your driver’s license may be obtained at the Georgia State Patrol building located at 2301 Airport Road in Hinesville (912) 370-2652. If you currently have an out-of-state license, you must obtain a new Georgia license within 30 days of establishing residence in Georgia. Old licenses should be surrendered upon issuance of a new one. A passing score on a written driving exam and an eye test, plus possession of a social security card are required for a Georgia license. The license fee should be paid in cash only. The office is open Tuesday-Saturday; 9:00-5:00 for renewals and 9:00-4:30 for testing.

PET REGULATIONS

Pets are welcome to Liberty County too! Please obtain a permit for your pet upon arrival at the Environmental Health Building at 101 North Commerce Street in Hinesville. There is a one-time charge of $2 per altered animal (fixed) and $6.00 for non-altered animals. The Animal Control Center‘s phone number is (912) 876-9191 and the office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required for dogs and highly-recommended for cats. Pets should be leashed, enclosed, or otherwise controlled by a competent person for their safety, as well as the safety of others. Liberty County has a leash-law that is in effect as well.

REGISTERING TO VOTE

Residents may register to vote for national, state, county and city elections on 102 South Commerce Street at the Voter’s Registrar’s Office. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00 and the phone number is (912) 876-3310. You must complete a registration form in person at this office.
